Justice Served - Court Room 600

It was extremely emotional to me to visit Court Room 600 in the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg, Germany on December 6, 2023. Most people are familiar with the Nuremberg Trials that took place in this room from 1945-1946. However, this is the location where the Doctors Trials also took place.

Court Room 600 Then and Now

Officially known as United States of America v. Karl Brandt, et al., the trial was held by the U.S. Military Courts from December 9, 1946, until August 20, 1947. There were 23 defendants; seven were acquitted, seven received death sentences and the remainder received prison sentences ranging from 10 years to life imprisonment.

Viktor Brack and Karl Brandt were hanged on June 2, 1948.

Phillip Bouhler, the mastermind of Aktion T4, committed suicide. Irmfried Eberl, who ran Bernburg at the time my Tante Ruth was killed, also committed suicide rather than go to trial.

This is the room where JUSTICE WAS METED OUT.

Side note: I did not realize that Walter Cronkite was a reporter at the Nuremberg Trials. This was the broadcast journalist my father watched every night of my childhood and his signature signoff, "And that's the way it is" was so familiar to me. Just another example of the interconnectedness of Ruth's story.
